for Precinct Chair #3056

Dear Democratic Voter,

I am asking for the opportunity to serve you as Precinct Chair because I am interested in serving the needs of our community, especially as it pertains to voting matters.

As one of the persons who has worked closely with Mr. Davis at the polls for the last six years to make sure that our elections go smoothly, I would like to keep you informed on issues, policies, and candidates that impact each of us and our families.

I want to work with you to improve our neighborhood and community.  The more people in our precinct who vote regularly (i.e. each election), the more elected officials have to pay attention to our concerns.

Your Willing Servant,

What I Believe

INVOLVEMENT: Describe how you have been involved in the political process in the last 2 years?

I have worked in the precinct as an election worker since 2012. I have attended each state senatorial district, Texas State Democratic Conventions (Houston, Dallas, San Antonio), and the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. I have active relationships with my elected officials.

What I Believe

from League of Women's Voters Profile

VISION: If elected, what would you most like to accomplish during the next term?

I want to be a resource of information for voters in the precinct. I would like to develop a "vote team" in the precinct that identifies new residents, helps to provide voter registration cards to the new residents, and provides persistent dialogue on issues that affect our community. I do not want anyone in the precinct to be uninformed on any issue that impacts them/us. I believe in empowering voters and connecting them to decision-makers. I believe in promoting a fundamental understanding of the political process.

OUTREACH: What steps would you take to increase outreach to voters in your precinct?

Introduce myself at the polls and during block walks. I want to meet each voting household. I would like to build to build to a "neighborhood chat" that would have neighbors gather and discuss what is happening on their street, in their part of the neighborhood, and in the community overall. If we engage and are active and vocal in our participation, we can obtain favorable results from our political representatives.

OTHER ISSUES: What other issues do you believe are most pressing in your precinct, and how would you address them?

We cannot be content just articulating the problems. We must also be able to describe and craft the parameters of the solutions to those problems. We must shepherd our solutions with our presence and involvement.

In no particular order: Infrastructure- lobby city council senior needs- multi-lateral (federal, state, local government, private) engagement education- (state, county, local) school board + private partners. Emphasize high-skill vocational options (coding, programming, networking) employment- multi-lateral (federal, state, local government, private) engagement job training- multi-lateral (federal, state, local government, private) engagement code enforcement- city council goods and services- public-private ventures.
